Hi I am Lindsey, I am 30 years old and i am married to James and we have three boys, our eldest being 6 and youngest being 10 weeks. This is my trip to looking after the environment (in a mums point of view) with help from my family.

After spending a weekat my parents house in the counrty with my two boys ( i was pregnant) my poor husband spent the week at work. I found a large pile of Healthy and Organic magazines. Once my boys were tucked up in bed i sat and read them.

I already recycled but didn’t really give it much thought about what packaging were used for some of my products and were they would end up.

As soon as i got home i ordered a few books and then got to work.  Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.

At the moment our eco lives are straight forward, i don’t drive so i get the bus to places i can’t walk to, plastic bags are no longer used, including veg bags (i still need to convince James of this). I get an organic fruit and veg deliverd weekly. Plugs are turned off at the wall and unplugged when not in use (much to the annoyance of James) lights are off when not needed (my boys now use the fraise “if the big sun in the sky is out then the lights stay off”.

My view is to try and stay simple there is no need to complicate things. If my gran can do it so can I.

    Hi Lindsey

We all know how bad chemicals are for you and for your family. I work with the amazing Austrian company – ENJO – now firmly based in the UK. We clean without chemicals and our products save money! Yes true – we are a spend to save range of products. Our products will eliminate chemicals from your home in a deep clean (6.5 times better than traditional cleaning products) and they last for 3 years. We also eliminate plastic bottles, packaging and sprays.

We are now recruiting for 2009 for mums who want to have their own flexi/part time or full time business. Saving people money and making a difference every single day.

Please could you tell your mums to look at our web site – http://www.enjo.co.uk. They can also buy on line or have a consultant do a demo or 1-2-1.

    Thanks Lindsey

    Hello Lindsey,

I have been reading your site with great interest. We to are always trying to be as green as possible. I am always having to remind my husband to ‘take the bags with you’!!! when he goes to the shops though but I love teaching my children by example. i have set up an Eco-schools committee at my childrens primary school and we are currently setting up our school garden. We are keeping a blog (although it’s a bit behind) at: http://holytrinityenvironmentalgarden.blogspot.com/

I also have an online site selling organic and natural, eco-friendly products for the family and home and offer an Ecover refill service for local customers in Weymouth, Dorset. This is at: http://www.greenbeginnings.co.uk
If you ever get a chance I would love you to take a look at it and give me some feedback on what additional organic and eco-friendly products I might think to adding.

Good luck with your Eco journey. I look forward to popping back regularly to see how you are getting on.

    Best wishes,

    Samantha.

I really adpoted a more eco friendly lifestyle with the birth of my son. I felt as I had brought someone into this world then I needed to give a bit back but also it’s just a much more satisfying, fun & child friendly way of life.

I also started making my own 100% natural organic balms for my son’s eczema as I was very concerned about the ingredients used in conventional products. It may be of interest to your readers who suffer from eczema or just like using natural products.
